KARACHI: At the Bahria University Health Sciences Campus (BUHSC) Karachi’s 9th Convocation held at its Ibn-e-Sina Auditorium, a total of 291 graduates were conferred degrees of MPhil, MBBS, BDS, Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), Bachelor of Nursing (BS), and Medical Lab Technology (MLT).
The convocation comprising two sessions was presided over by Bahria University Rector retired Vice Admiral Asif Khaliq HI(M) and attended by senior officials from the Pakistan Navy, varsity registrar and other notables from medical, dental and allied health sciences fraternity.
In his welcome address, BUHSC Director General retired Vice Admiral Ather Mukhtar HI(M) said that in a short span the varsity has grown into one of the most prestigious institutes of the country and appreciated the initiation of PhD programme in health sciences.
Degrees were conferred by the chief guest followed by an oath taking ceremony. The oath was administered to the graduates by retired Maj Gen Shehla Baqai HI (M), Dean Health Sciences & Principal Medical College.
Subsequently, certificates of merit and medals were awarded to the position-holders.
In his address, Vice Admiral (R) Asif Khaliq HI(M) congratulated the students, parents and faculty.
“It is time to return what you have received and deliver the benefits of your knowledge to the community and nation,” he said, expressing the hope that the graduates while embarking upon their professional careers will remain focused on the golden rules of ethics.
He advised the graduates to uphold the traditions of their noble profession and bring good name to their institution and the country by serving humanity to the best of their abilities.
At the end, Mr Ather Mukhtar presented the convocation souvenir to the BUHSC rector.
