RAWALPINDI: Margalla Dental Hospital (MDH), Margalla Institute of Health Sciences (MIHS), organised a CME activity on dentine hypersensitivity for its house officers and faculty in collaboration with dental education department and GSK Consumer Healthcare Pakistan Limited.
On the occasion, house officers from periodontics and operative dentistry departments shared their knowledge about dentine hypersensitivity in their specific domains.
Dentine hypersensitivity or pain caused by hot and cold stimuli is one of the most common complaints among the patients which dentists should be able to diagnose, treat and manage.
The main objective of the activity was to encourage house officers to explore and share information about dentine hypersensitivity and its available treatment options, including recent advances in the field.
The participating dental practitioners were of the view that spreading awareness, especially the information about prevention and oral hygiene, positively impacts patients’ oral health and treatment of their oral diseases, and in turn plays a significant role in improving an individual’s general health and well-being.
MIHS Vice Principal Prof Dr Shakir Khan, Margalla Dental Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Taimur and other senior faculty members were also present on the occasion.
The experts addressed the queries of the participants regarding the correct diagnosis and treatment options.
A representative of GSK discussed the mechanisms of action of Parodontax and Sensodyne and the studies conducted to determine their effectiveness.
A kiosk was set up at the venue to perform sensitivity tests for the dental students and dentists.
Souvenirs were distributed among the participants at the end of the activity.
