Karachi — Dow University's Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan Institute of Oral Health Sciences'   Community Dentistry department is providing effective training to its students of masters classes through its self directed and problem solving and learning programmes.
In a press release, the head of the Community Dentistry department, Dr Ambrina Qureshi, said that the department has recently assigned a project on oral health promotion for blind and deaf children through undergraduate students to a master trainee Dr Sohail Saadat. As a part of this project, a group of undergraduate students during their second year taught and practice programme in the Community Dentistry were involved who presented a self-written and self-recorded audio drama which emphasised on healthy eating and brushing habits. This was led by a guided tooth brushing and oral hygiene instructions programme to the visually impaired children. Later, tooth brushes and pastes were distributed among all these children as a token of appreciation by the dental undergraduates, which helped the dental undergraduates realise their responsibility towards oral health of the people in their society.—PR
