KARACHI - Baqai Dental College initiated its Program for Professional Development (PPD 2017) under the umbrella of Department of Medical Education at July end. A CME lecture/activity was recently held at Baqai Medical University in this respect. The event was attended by dental faculty members, house officers and students of Baqai Dental College. Renowned speakers including Dr Asher Jamelle, Assistant Professor Dept of Periodontology and Oral Medicine, FJDC and Dr Zohaib Akram, Assistant Professor Periodontology at Ziauddin University shared their knowledge and views. The session commenced with a lecture on current concepts in Periodontology by Dr Zohaib Akram who focused on the need to understand and implement different periodontal strategies from all across the globe and encouraged graduates to pursue post-graduate programs.
Dr Asher Jamelle discussed about the recent Periodontology innovations and how various new advancements and developments have proved to be a milestone in the field of Periodontology. Credit hours were awarded to the participants and certificates were distributed at the end of the session. Colgate sponsored the entire event and it turned out to be a successful informative session. Such type of activities provide a platform for interactive discussion and experience sharing and helps the enhancement medical knowledge while playing a key role in ongoing professional development of the participants.
Following the initial event, another CME activity was organized by the Department of Medical Education Baqai Dental College. They organized a lecture on “Aesthetic Dentistry and Career Counseling" for House Officers and Final year students by Prof Dr Mohammad Amin currently working in Taibah University, KSA. Prof Dr Mohammad Amin discussed aesthetic considerations in fixed prosthesis. He elaborated the principles of aesthetics and how important aesthetics are in every patient's treatment planning. The seminar was concluded with a career counselling session. House officers and students were briefed on how to improve their professional competency in different fields of dentistry. At the end of the lecture Prof. Kashif Ikram along with Prof. Asaad Javaid presented a shield as token of appreciation to the honourable guest.
