WASHINGTON: The United States' medical advisors recently voted against the booster doses of the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine for ages 16 and above due to the possible side effects in younger age groups.
The majority of the panel of researchers, vaccinologists and epidemiologists voted against Pfizer's booster dose for the young but left the door open to agreeing for the older people for this shot.
Dr Paul A. Offit, Director of the Vaccine Education Center and Professor of Pediatrics, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, said that although he would probably support a three-dose recommendation for those over 60 or 65, he had trouble keeping this as written for anyone greater than or equal to 16.
Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will decide how to proceed with the rollout on Sep 22-23.
