The Department of Community Dentistry, DIDC, recently organized the 1st Oral Health Research Day at Dow International Dental College. Dr Kulsoom Fatima Rizvi (Vice Principal Bahria University Medical and Dental College and Head of Community Dentistry Department) was invited as the Chief Guest for the event. The event included research-based poster competition and oral presentation competition among students of third year BDS. The event was supervised by the lecturers, Dr Zaheer Ahmed Soomro, Dr Eisha Abrar and Dr Ambreen Kanwal. The chief organizers of the event were Dr Qaiser Ali Baig (Associate Professor & HOD) and Dr Ashar Afaq (Vice Principal) while the organizers included lecturers from the Department of Community Dentistry. The winners of the poster competition were the presenters of “Patient Satisfaction on Dental Services by Five Public Dental Hospitals in Karachi”. While the winner of presentation competition was the group that presented on “Evidence Based Dentistry- Seesaw on an Edge”. Special prize was given to Ms. Nawal Ali Khan and Mr. Abdul Wassay (3rd Year Students), the research poster winners. They had secured 2nd position in the 5th International Association of Dental Research, Pakistan chapter, Lahore, 2018. The faculty members of DIDC, DDC and third year students of DIDC attended the event. The event was well appreciated by the audience with the positive will in promoting researches. In the end Principal Prof Amynah Tariq appreciated the students and the efforts done by Department of Community dentistry.
