KARACHI: The Dental Education Committee of Sir Syed College of Medical Sciences (SSCMS) recently organised a one-day lecture and hands-on workshop on preventive dentistry.
Prof. HR Sukhia, Principal, Dental College, SSCMS, Dr Hasan Askari, Head of the Dental Material Department, SSCMS and Dr Syed Ali Raza, Department of Community Dentistry Department, SSCMS, led the sessions.
Dr Ali Raza stressed the importance of proper preventive measures to combat oral diseases in the general public. He pointed out the role of fissure sealants in preventing carious lesions in the first and second decades of life.
He discussed the various levels of prevention and their applications. Furthermore, during the hands-on demonstration session, Dr Hasan Askari illustrated the proper brushing techniques and explained various oral hygiene procedures to the participants.
The event organisers, Dr Syed Ali Raza, Dr Zain Rauf Shamsi and Dr Hasan Askari, facilitated Prof. HR Sukhia in leading a CDE program.
