ISLAMABAD: The United States government will contribute $7 million via United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to the Asian Development Bank's (ADB) continuing project to address the secondary effects of COVID-19 in Pakistan.
In this regard, Julie Koenen, Mission Director, USAID and Yong Ye, Country Director, ADB, recently attended a signing ceremony in Islamabad.
A US embassy press release said that ADB would use USAID's $7m contribution to provide cash grants to families in need of financial assistance due to the pandemic in Pakistan.
Through the 'Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme' managed by the Benazir Income Support Fund Programme, the grants will be distributed among families. USAID's funds will also provide administrative and technical support to ensure the programme recipients' effectiveness, transparency, and accountability.
