ISLAMABAD: Health authorities have reported 14 new cases of coronavirus in the country over the past week, according to the latest information released by the National Institute of Health (NIH). The data indicates a case positivity ratio of 0.66 percent, and thankfully, there are currently no patients in critical condition. Furthermore, there have been no new fatalities attributed to the virus, and a total of 2,112 Covid-19 tests were administered during this period.
In response to the ongoing threat of Covid-19 variants, officials from the Ministry for National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination have announced the reinforcement of border and health services across Pakistan. This enhanced readiness aims to effectively address any emerging sub-variants of the virus. As part of these measures, a comprehensive surveillance system has been established at all entry points into the country, including airports. Passengers arriving at these entry points will undergo rapid testing and screening procedures to ensure the safety of all travelers and the general population.
Additionally, the official stated that an impressive 90 percent of Pakistan's population has already received the Covid-19 vaccine. This vaccination milestone reflects the government's commitment to safeguarding public health and achieving widespread immunity against the virus.
