Karachi- On experiencing toothache, Asmat, 25, visited a government hospital for checkup. The doctor on duty, Dr Ayaz, wrote a prescription of an injection and handed it over to the compounder, Shahzaib. Asmat’s condition deteriorated as soon as the compounder administered the injection. She was immediately shifted to the emergency ward on a stretcher. Upon examination by the doctors, the girl was announced dead.
Later in the day, the case took a new turn when her autopsy report determined that she was sexually abused before being murdered.
The Korangi police claimed that she was intentionally administered a poisonous injection after being subjected to sexual assault at the hospital located in Korangi No.5.
The girl was working at the same hospital until seven months ago.
Three accused persons namely Aamir, Shahzeb and Wali Muhammad have been sent on a two-day physical remand under police custody in the mysterious death of a 25-year-old woman at a government hospital in Karachi’s Korangi area on Thursday.
Meanwhile, police have been raiding several hideouts to arrest another doctor claimed to be involved in the incident.
A report says that after her death, her body was kept in TB ward for three hours, and the injection and syringe, which were administered to her, were hidden.
Her postmortem was performed at Jinnah Hospital in Karachi. For further medical examination and reports, samples have been sent to a laboratory in Islamabad.
