Lahore: Punjab Caretaker Health Minister Dr Javed Akram reviewed the facilities being provided to the patients at the Mayo Hospital, Lahore, at a meeting held at the King Edward Medical University (KEMU).
The meeting was also attended by Punjab Health Secretary Dr Ahmad Javed Qazi, KEMU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mahmood Ayaz, Fatima Jinnah Medical University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Masood Gondal, Mayo Hospital CEO Prof Haroon Hamid, Medical Superintendent Dr Munir Ahmed Malik, besides Prof Ijaz Hussain, Prof Abrar Ashraf and Prof Riasat Ali.
The minister reviewed the performance of the Mayo Hospital and the measures taken to provide better treatment facilities to the patients. A briefing was also given to the minister in this regard.
Dr Javed Akram said the KEMU was a wonderful historic medical school and its graduates were making Pakistan proud all over the world.
The minister hoped that the ongoing schemes at the KEMU will be completed on time.
He said that the Mayo Hospital with over 2400 beds was providing all facilities for the convenience of patients.
He said Human Resource (HR) departments at the KEMU and the Mayo Hospital will be completed on priority basis.
Dr Akram said the health department was considering building a tertiary hospital in the King Edward Medical University.
The minister said electro-medical equipment for the operation theaters of the Mayo Hospital will be purchased soon.
He said the problems being faced by the Lady Willingdon Hospital, Lahore, would be solved on priority basis.
The minister said that as per the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the conditions of the government hospitals in the province were being improved.
