Independence Day Celebrations Held at DUHS

KARACHI- In light of the Independence Day, a flag hoisting ceremony was held at Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), Ojha Campus.


The ceremony was attended by Pro Vice Chancellors Dr. Mohammad Masoor, Prof Dr. Khawar Saeed Jamali, Prof Dr. Zarnaz Wahid, Registrar Prof Dr. Aman Ullah, Prof Dr. Zeba Haq, Prof Dr. Shuja Farrukh, Prof Dr. Shaheen Sharafat, Prof Dr. Nisar Rao, senior faculty members along with a large number of students.


Speaking as the chief guest at the flag hoisting ceremony, Vice Chancellor, DUHS, Prof Dr. Mohammad Saeed Quraishy stated that, “The Islamic Republic of Pakistan is the second state after Madina that came into being on the basis of Islamic Ideology.”


Addressing the audience, Vice Chancellor further added that, “According to the Two-Nation Theory, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah wanted the Muslims of the Sub-Continent to join the cause. He fulfilled what Allama Iqbal dreamt of, for the Muslims to have a separate nation.”


He also added that, the younger generation should strive to make Pakistan a more progressive state, in the field of education, as per Quaid-e-Azam’s vision.


Prof Masroor added that, 14th August is not only a date to cherish but, it is also a day to revive the promise of loyalty to our ancestors and their sacrifices, and make Pakistan a prosperous nation.


Prof Dr. Zarnaz Wahid referred the students of Pakistan as the assets of the country, who will be responsible for the uprise.


Students and faculty members displayed their spirit and patriotism by singing national songs and chanting patriotic slogans. Different institutes of Dow University of Health Sciences also performed skits and tableaus on the event, which were widely appreciated by the audiences.
