ISLAMABAD: In a major step toward improving inclusivity and governance, the Pakistan Dental Association (PDA) has officially announced the formation of its much-anticipated Constitution Review Committee. This development follows last week’s announcement by PDA President Dr. Khursheed Ahmed, who pledged reforms to align the association’s operations with international standards of transparency and inclusivity.
In a notification issued by the Central Council, the PDA confirmed that the Constitution Review Committee is tasked with a comprehensive review of the association’s existing constitution. The committee aims to propose amendments that ensure better alignment with global standards and address the evolving needs of the dental community in Pakistan.
Committee Members Announced
The committee comprises a distinguished group of professionals representing all regions of Pakistan, ensuring diversity and inclusivity:
• Dr. Kamran Ahmad Vasfy and Dr. Inayatullah Padhiar (Sindh)
• Professor Ayaz Ali Khan and Dr. Sajjad Butt (Punjab)
• Professor Shaheed Iqbal and Professor Qaim Ud Din (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa)

This diverse representation ensures that voices from across Pakistan’s dental fraternity are included in shaping the association’s future.
A step toward transparency and inclusivity
Speaking to Dental News, Dr. Khursheed Ahmed reiterated his commitment to fostering a culture of transparency within the PDA. “This committee represents a significant milestone in our journey toward strengthening governance. With the inclusion of seasoned professionals and experts, we are confident that the proposed reforms will enhance fairness and operational efficiency within the PDA,” he stated.
The announcement comes at a critical juncture, addressing previous criticisms about the PDA’s governance practices. The swift establishment of this committee underscores the leadership’s willingness to act on feedback and make meaningful reforms.
Looking Ahead
As the Constitution Review Committee begins its work, the dental community anticipates significant updates that will pave the way for a more structured and inclusive PDA. With a commitment to adhering to international standards, the association aims to set a benchmark for governance reforms in professional bodies.
