By Our Staff Reporter ISLAMABAD-The ongoing tussle between the federal health and the medical and dental regulatory body finally came to an end both sides agreed to form a reforms committee to streamline the functioning of the PMDC. According to the press release PMDC President Prof Dr Masood Hameed and Vice President Dr Syed Muhammad Awaismet with the Health Minister Saira Afzal Tararand agreed to establish a reforms’ committee to streamline its procedures and functioning. Besides terms of reference (ToR) improving the quality of medical education and resolving issues being faced by medical students and graduates were also part of the agenda. The meeting also discussed the issue of moratorium on opening of new medical colleges and matters relating to registration of foreign students. There was a consensus that educational audits were needed to be conducted to improve quality of medical education in the country.The minister said that quality medical education is a key to quality health services to the masses and no compromise should be made in this regard.
