The Community Dentistry Department at IMDC started the year with a school dental screening programme as well as oral health education sessions (OHE). The dental team comprised of Dr Sheze Haroon (Assistant Professor), Dr Sadia Sajjad (Senior Lecturer), and 2nd year BDS undergraduate students. A total of six schools in Bhara Kahu were visited, namely the Educators (Banigala campus, Bharakahu campus), the Smart School (two campuses) and the Allied school. All the students were screened, and oral hygiene instructions were given. The undergraduate students made charts on three themes, namely tooth brushing, the dentist and dental staff, and healthy eating. The children along with the school teachers were given awareness on these three topics followed by a question and answer session. A total of 933 school children were screened in the month of January. The administration of the schools appreciated the efforts of the dental team and ensured their full cooperation in continuing the program with the dental college in the future.
