ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Dental Association (PDA) has taken a monumental step toward resolving longstanding leadership and organizational challenges through the signing of a binding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Dr. Khursheed Ahmed Nasim, President of the PDA Central Council, and Dr. Syed Mahmood Shah, former President of the PDA. This agreement marks a turning point for the dental community in Pakistan, ensuring transparency, cooperation, and mutual respect.
The MOU addresses key issues, including the termination of redundant registrations, the transfer of critical assets, and the establishment of new protocols for internal governance. The agreement explicitly states that the former PDA bank account will be closed within ten working days, and original property documents will be handed over to the newly registered PDA’s nominees.
The former and the current leadership have committed to resolving future disputes through an Arbitration Committee, ensuring no external litigations or complaints disrupt the association's progress.
Crucially, the MOU outlines steps to introduce open countrywide elections for the PDA Central Council, Provinces, and Branches as per the PDA new constitution being formulated now by the PDA constitution review committee. The MOU reaffirms the new leadership’s role in representing Pakistan's dental community on international forums like FDI World Dental Federation, the Asia Pacific Dental Federation (APDF), and AEEDC Dubai.
The leadership have also pledged to refrain from derogatory statements, ensuring a respectful and collaborative environment moving forward. This agreement is a significant milestone, signaling a brighter future for dental professionals across Pakistan.
