KARACHI- Jinnah Sindh Medical University has organized a program “Istaqbql-e- Ramadan and Awareness Program” on June 17, 2015. Prof. Dr. S.M. Tariq Rafi, Vice Chancellor, JSMU was the Chief Guest. Prof Dr Nazeer Khan, Director of Research and Organizer of the event welcomed all the guests and briefed them about the program and speakers. Dr M Zaman Shaikh, Director, Sir Syed Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology and Dr. Abdul Basit, Director, Baqai Institute of Diabetology and Endocrinology gave a brief the effect of diabetes in type I and type II patients during Ramadan fasting. Dr Nighat Shah, Consultant Gynecologist and a faculty member at Jinnah Sindh Medical University talked about the effect of fasting among pregnant women. Prof Aasim Ahmed explained when the renal disease and dialysis patients can fast. In the beginning of the program the religious scholar Dr Kashif Shaikh, member of Institutional Review Board JSMU, addressed the audience regarding Islamic aspects of Roza and Ramadan. In a panel discussion the speakers clarified the queries from audience. At the end, Prof Dr S.M. Tariq Rafi Vice Chancellor, JSMU as the Chairman of the program also addressed and presented the vote of thanks to all the speakers and participants. -PR
