KARACHI: The Department of Operative Dentistry at Bahria University Medical & Dental College (BUMDC) recently organized a rotary endodontics workshop to equip the students with the latest, modern evidence-based dental practices.
Prof. Dr Shama Ashgar and her team arranged the workshop for the house officers currently working at the dental hospital. It comprised an in-depth, easy to assimilate and enlightening lecture by Professor Dr Abu Bakar Sheikh, Head of Endodontics Department, Fatima Jinnah Dental College, followed by a hands-on workshop for each participant facilitated by Dr Ayesha Zafar, Dr Meisha Gul and Dr Syed Adeel Ahmed.
Dr Abu Bakar, in his lecture, thoroughly explained the indications of using Rotary Endodontic systems and highlighted the various factors that can contribute to the success of a root canal treatment. The lecture was not was also attended and appreciated by many senior faculty members of the dental college.
For hands-on, the endo training kits, endo motors, Endoblocks, and other associated requirements were provided to all the participants by the operative department in collaboration with United Technologies and Dia-Dent.
At the end of the workshop, the chief guest, Commodore (R) Muhammad Irfan, Director Campus, BUHSC (K), and Prof. Dr Kulsoom Rizvi, Vice Principal Dental College, BUMDC, presented Dr Abu Bakar with a shield as a token of appreciation. Certificates were also distributed to all the participants and facilitators.
