ISLAMABAD - The contracts of the Pakistan Medical Commission’s (PMC) senior members have recently been discontinued due to their disagreement on the MDCAT matter.
Raza Shah, Member Information Technology, PMC and Abdul Majeed, Member Finance, PMC, were forced to resign while the PMC terminated Dr Tahir Qazi, Member Examination, PMC. They all disagreed on granting a contract to conduct MDCAT to a private firm and settle payments to Testing and Evaluation Service (TEPS). Hamza Khawaja, IT official, PMC, has also resigned over this issue.
The members showed disparity over contract and payment issuance with the top heads as they considered it against Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules.
One of the officials said that nobody knows whether the TEPS software for online MDCAT had been tested before launching it for students or not, and that was the reason for candidates complaining about its technical faults.
However, the PMC had maintained that they had done everything by following the rules and regulations, and there was no violation.
In addition, Lahore High Court has directed PMC not to make any payments to the private firm as the case was in the court.
