ISLAMABAD: The Asia Pacific Dental Student Association (APDSA)-Pakistan Division has been running a vigorous oral health awareness and education campaign by organising events in the different regions of Pakistan, in collaboration with various dental schools and clinics.
Through these events, APDSA has brought together dental students and professionals to work towards a common goal of promoting dental health and education.
‘Smile On the Go’
In collaboration with the Islamic International Dental College (IIDC), the APDSA organised a series of dental camps for the children with special needs in connection with the World Oral Health Day 2023. The camps with the slogan ‘Smile on the Go’ were held at three institutes, where the association members screened around 130 children with hearing and intellectual challenges.
The effort was aimed at promoting good oral hygiene practices amongst the children and their caregivers and sensitising dentists to the needs of an underserved population.
‘Oral Health for Everyone’
The APDSA organized a dental camp with the slogan ‘Oral Health For Everyone’ in collaboration with Rehman College of Dentistry (RCD) Liaison Officer Dr Bushra Jahan at the Special Education Complex, Hayatabad, Peshawar.
As many as 29 RCD students and house officers took part in the activity, which included an oral hygiene session held a day before the dental camp, where over 200 children with special needs underwent dental checkups.
The camp was sponsored by Colgate Pakistan which also distributed basic oral hygiene kits and charts among the students.
