RAWALPINDI: The development projects, particularly those relating to health and education, must not be politicised and be implemented in the best interest of the public.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said this during his visit to the Rawalpindi Institute of Urology and Transplantation (RIUT).
The chief minister said no one should be allowed to politicise the projects of any government.
He said it was the time to get united for the proper implementation of the Constitution.
During his visit to the RIUT, he expressed satisfaction at the successful completion of the first phase of the hospital that was providing facilities of dialysis and surgery to the patients, besides routine treatment of various kidney ailments.
He lauded the Punjab health administration for making the hospital effectively operational and appreciated the doctors and nurses for their dedication.
He mentioned that Rs5 billion have been spent on RIUT so far, recalling that he had laid the foundation stone of the hospital in 2012 as Punjab chief minister.
He regretted that the previous government delayed the project, which could, otherwise, have been made operational much earlier.
PM Sharif regretted that a former chief justice of the Supreme Court had halted the work on the PKLI, leveling allegations against him (Mr Shehbaz), adding that such discouragement of development and social work badly impacted the provision of civic facilities to the public.
He said serving the masses was a noble cause that needed a synchronised effort by all stakeholders.
The prime minister took a round of various sections of the RIUT and inquired after the patients, and instructed the administration to ensure provision of the best medical facilities to them.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb, and other PML-N leaders, including Hanif Abbasi, Tahira Aurangzeb, were also present.
