JAMSHORO: The Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery organized a vibrant event on Aug 14 to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day.

The event featured a flag-hoisting ceremony led by Prof. Kashif Ali Channar, head of the Department (HoD), and Dean of Dentistry, Prof. Feroz Ali.

The ceremony was followed by a tree planting drive titled ‘Green Dentistry, Green Pakistan’, led by HoD Prof Channar, who had launched this initiative six years back in 2019.

The drive reflected the department’s commitment to environmental sustainability, through planting of flowers and trees around the campus every year, contributing to a greener and more sustainable environment.

Faculty members, including Prof. Shahzad, Prof. Suneel, Prof. Abdul Qadir Dal, Prof. Abdul Jabbar Baloch, Prof. Irfan Ahmed Shaikh, Dr. Fozia, Dr. Salman Memon, Dr. Zeshan, Ramesh, and Dr. Mansoor, were also actively involved in the tree planting.

The event concluded with a group photo featuring final-year BDS students and postgraduate residents of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS).

The LUMHS I-Day celebrations not only honored the nation’s history but also reinforced its commitment to environmental sustainability through community involvement.
