KARACHI: The 21st Health Asia International Exhibition and Conference at the Expo Centre Karachi also featured "Dentech Asia" that provided an opportunity to dental professionals to explore the latest advancements in the field by attending expert lectures, live demonstrations, and in-depth discussions and improve dental practices and patient care.
Dr. Ambreen Afzal from the Academy of Implant Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery (AIDM) led a key session on modern orthodontics, focusing on practical solutions for crowding and space management using implants to ensure long-term stability.
Other notable speakers, including Dr. Junaid Lakhani, Principal of Jinnah Medical and Dental College (JMDC), and Dr. Abbas Khan, provided insights into the latest developments in dental aligners and contemporary orthodontic practices, equipping participants with practical knowledge to implement in their clinics.
A session chaired by Dr. Navid Rashid, Principal of Liaquat College of Medicine and Dentistry (LCMD), and coordinated by Prof. Dr. Uzma Zeeraf, concentrated on endodontic innovations. Discussions highlighted pediatric treatment strategies and the use of exosomes in tissue regeneration, with presentations from Prof. Dr. Syed Abrar of Hamdard Dental College and Dr. Sahar Khan, a specialist in dental aesthetics, receiving particular praise.
The symposium also included sessions on implants and aesthetic dentistry. Prof. Dr. Feroze Ali Kalhoro, Dean of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS). Dr. Feroze Jahangir led a discussion on dental trauma management, emphasizing advanced techniques involving CBCT diagnostics, computer-assisted implants, and soft tissue reconstruction.
Dr. Meisha Gul from Baqai University Dental College (BUDC) and Dr. Tauseef Ahmed, President of the All Alumni Chapter, Pakistan, underscored the importance of precision in modern implant procedures and trauma care.
Sessions on comprehensive orthodontic and endodontic care, chaired by Dr. Anwar Ahmed, Principal of Dow International Dental College (DIKIOHS), and Dr. Khurram Parvez, Vice Principal of DIKIOHS, explored practical applications and collaborative approaches to foster a sense of community among dental professionals.
Aesthetic dentistry was another focal point, with a session led by Prof. Dr. Aqeel Ahmed Shaikh, former Principal of Karachi Medical and Dental College (KMDC), and Dr. Sana Adeel. The discussion centred on enhancing both the appearance and functionality of dental restorations, with Prof. Shaikh stressing the integration of form, function, and visual appeal to achieve harmony in dental aesthetics.
The event concluded with a presentation by Dr. Jahenzaib Memon from LUMHS, who shared advanced techniques in endodontics and composites, particularly in posterior biometric restoration. Dr. Ambreen Afzal, CEO of Saha and Director of Stem Cells R3, highlighted emerging innovations in dentistry, including the global significance of exosome technology.
Kicking off the conference, Dr. Saad, a laser dentistry expert with a Master’s in Laser Dentistry from Germany, delivered an inspiring talk on the transformative role of laser technology in modern dental practices.
His presentation covered safety protocols and various laser applications in soft tissue and surgical procedures, with a live demonstration showcasing the precision and minimal bleeding of laser incision techniques.
