SHC considers petition for de-sealing Alvi's dental clinic

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has reserved its judgment on the petition to de-seal the dental clinic of former President Dr. Arif Alvi.

During the hearing, Justice Zafar Rajput questioned why no action was taken when construction was ongoing at the clinic. The lawyer for the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) responded that the authority can only act on complaints due to insufficient staff to review the three million buildings in the area.

Justice Rajput expressed frustration with this response, stating that while the SBCA has personnel to collect fees, they often prioritize revenue over addressing illegal constructions.

The court ultimately reserved its decision regarding the de-sealing of the clinic, which had been sealed by the SBCA earlier this month. The clinic is located in the Sindhi Muslim Cooperative Housing Society.
