LAHORE: The Institute of Advanced Dental Sciences and Research (IADSR) recently organised a two-day workshop on the "Restoration of Endodontically Treated Teeth" as part of its 16th Professional Diploma in Advanced General Dentistry (PDAGD) programme.
The sessions conducted by Dr Salman Ashraf Khan, BDS, FRACDS (Australia), Consultant Dental Surgeon, Shaukat Khannum Hospital, Lahore focused on Class IV restorations and diastema closure, with an emphasis on achieving aesthetic excellence through minimally invasive techniques.
Dr Khan highlighted the benefits of direct adhesive composite resin restorations, which require minimal tooth reduction, besides providing comprehensive guidance on shade selection, colour mapping, and various preparation techniques.
A notable feature of the workshop was its focus on dental photography, with Dr Khan demonstrating how it enhances clinical outcomes. Participants were trained in composite layering techniques, addressing issues like peg laterals, and various finishing methods such as shaping, contouring, and polishing.
The workshop also featured a case study segment, where participants diagnosed cases, developed detailed treatment plans, and performed hands-on procedures.
Dr Khan also engaged with participants' queries during the practical exercises, holding in-depth discussions on the challenges faced in clinical practice.
