KARACHI: The first Biosafety Level-3 Lab has been established at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
Executive Director, JPMC, Dr Seemin Jamali, inaugurated the lab in a recent ceremony. The lab has been made operational with the support of the Sindh government, she said.
She further said that the capacity of tests in Sindh had been increased with the functioning of the COVID Lab, with an average of 100 tests being conducted in the hospital on a daily basis.
Adviser to CM Sindh, Murtaza Wahab, in his statement, said that the Biosafety Level -3 Lab had been opened for the public for the first time at the JPMC. He said that 100 tests would be performed each day in the first phase, while the testing capacity would be enhanced in the next phase.
He further said that the CM Sindh had approved funds for the lab at the request of the JPMC’s administration.
