MIRPURKHAS: The departments of Periodontology and Operative Dentistry at the Bhittai Dental and Medical College (BDMC) Mirpurkhas recently conducted a one-day hands-on workshop on the "Office Bleaching 

Technique", enlightening the participants on various aspects of the procedure.

The workshop was supervised by BDMC Managing Director Dr Ghulam Mustafa Butt and Deputy Managing Director Dr Mushtaque Khan, with valuable support from Principal Dr Permanand Das, Vice Principal Dr Ali Maqbool Khuwaja, and Dr Shuja Hamid.

Collaborating with the BDMC Department of Medical Education, the Periodontics and Operative Dentistry team facilitated the workshop, featuring speakers Dr Rajesh Sufi, Dr Saima Salman, and Dr Naresh Kumar. A total of 48 participants, including senior and junior faculty, house officers, and undergraduates, were divided into four groups.

The organizing team, comprising Dr Shanza Abdullah Shaikh, Dr Aisha Younas, Dr Arsalan-Ul-Haq, Dr Aqsa Hassan Khan, Dr Hazrat Ali, Dr Abdul Wahab, Dr Ahsaan-Ul-Haq Ahsan, and Dr Mohammad Anique, played crucial roles as demonstrators, HOs, Student Affairs in charge, and Periodontology Department staff members, respectively.

The workshop commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome address from Dr Ayesha Youns.

Presentations by Dr Rajesh Sufi, Dr Saima Salman, and Dr Naresh Kumar provided valuable insights into the subject matter.

Facilitators, including Assistant Professor Dr Rajesh Sufi, HOD Dr Saima Salman, and Assistant Professor/HOD Peadodontics Dr Naresh Kumar, offered hands-on demonstrations to participants, who were divided into groups for 30-minute sessions, allowing ample practice time. The topics covered ranged from case selection criteria and mechanisms of bleaching to types of bleaching, abrasion techniques, white spot lesions, soft tissue management, and available bleaching kits and materials.

Feedback questionnaires were distributed to participants for their valuable input, and Deputy Managing Director Dr Mushtaque Ahmad Khan and Principal Dr Permanand Das delivered closing addresses, commending the initiative and encouraging more such learning opportunities in the future.

At the end a hi-tea was arranged for directors, faculty, and participants, and certificates were awarded to both organisers and participants, marking the successful conclusion of the workshop.
