Research Initiation Program- BADC Encourages Students To Conduct Medical And Dental Researches

LARKANA: A One-day celebration was held at Bibi Aseefa Dental College (BADC) on 10th of May, to welcome the students of their 7th Batch.

BADC Principal, Dr. Ilyas Sheikh stated that, the college was established 6 years ago with only 2 classrooms but now, it has broadened to a 50,000 sq ft. of space and is one of the best dental colleges of the Province.

The Registrar of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU) Dr. Afsar Bhutto observed research to be an integral part of education being acquired in the universities. He urged the students to direct themselves towards research and development, for which the university would assist and provide all the essential facilities to the students.

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Ghulam Asghar Channa encouraged the dentists, and collectively termed them as ‘artists and engineers’. He called BADC as a vital asset for the citizens of Sindh. He expressed concerns over the fact that, private medical institutes are each funded with Rs 1.5million while public medical institutes are funded with Rs 35,000 per annum. He urged the students to repay the public in the form of ‘serving them with honesty and dignity’; as the tax they submit gets spent on the building and maintenance of medical centers.

Chandka Medical College Principal, Prof K Das, Prof Akbar Soomro, other senior doctors, and parents were present at the occasion.

As the ceremony ended, prize money were distributed amongst the research students, as a reward for their work.
