PORTLAND, Oregon: A woman recently woke up from a coma just hours before her family planned to end her life support.

Bettina Lerman was on a ventilator for over a month after she had contracted COVID-19 in Sep 2021. A 69-year-old diabetic woman fastened to a ventilator at the Maine Medical Center, Portland, deteriorating condition.

After a month on the ventilator and in a coma, her family members were set to end her life support after the hospital staff told family members that unvaccinated Lerman had "irreversible damage" from contracting COVID-19 and was never going to wake up.

Just hours to go before switching the power off Lerman's life support, she suddenly woke up. The doctor gave news of her consciousness to her son, Andrew. Andrew was in the middle of picking out a headstone for his mother when he got this news.
