ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) recently took action against the teaching hospitals as they failed to offer stipends to the medical and dental house officers.
Several house officers from across Pakistan submitted complaints against hospitals regarding failure to provide stipends or to offer less than what had been ordered. PMC has issued official letters to the teaching hospitals with instructions for submitting official reports regarding the complaints.
Meanwhile, PMC released a notification as per their Medical and Dental Undergraduate Education (Admission, Curriculum and Conduct) Regulations 2021 Sec 25 (1)(2), which stated that every public teaching hospital should pay a stipend to each house officer as prescribed by the government. Similarly, the private teaching hospital should pay their house officer no less than the stipend paid by the public hospitals. PMC would take strict action as per law against the hospitals not abiding by the regulations.
