Baqai Medical College (BDC)-The department of Periodontology conducted a two day workshop on periodontal flaps and basics of Implantology.
Day one started with a lecture on ‘Periodontal Flap Surgery’, conducted by Dr. Maaz Asad Javaid. This was followed by a hands-on session performed on goat heads. The workshop was graced by BDC’s Principal Prof. Kashif Ikram who taught suturing skills, on the same day. The objective of this workshop was for the participants to grow confident in performing basic techniques like exposing of partial thickness, full thickness, and modified widman flaps.
The second day consisted of a comprehensive lecture on the intricacies required before, during and after implant placement, which was conducted by Dr Farjad Zafar. Since Implantology is an amalgamation of all dental specialties, it was made sure that a reasonably comprehensive syllabus be made for the participants. After the lecture, hands-on implant placement was performed on models. Instilling the rationale of ethical treatment planning for implant placement was among the focal objectives of this workshop.
Certificate distribution ceremony was also held on the last day, where the participants received their certificates from the Prof. Kashif Ikram, and the Vice Principal Dr Talha M. Siddiqui.
