LAHORE: Institute of Advanced Dental Sciences & Research (IADSR) recently conducted the hands-on workshops in the seventeenth session of ‘Professional Diploma in Periodontology and Oral Implantology’.

IADSR has been conducting a hands-on workshop on ‘Professional Diploma in Periodontology and Oral Implantology’. It has spanned the diploma over nine months, with 24 interactive sessions held over the weekends.

It was started in March 2021 to enable dental practitioners with efficient implant placement while maintaining optimal periodontal health with the help of various periodontal procedures. Seven months down the lane, all the participants have placed implants individually, and periodontal surgeries like bone and tissue grafting were done in some cases.

Dr Waleed Toosy, Assistant Professor, Prosthodontics, Avicenna Dental College, Lahore and Dr Myra Ahmed, Assistant Professor, Periodontology, Lahore Medical and Dental College, Lahore, facilitated the 17th session.

Dr Toosy shared his expertise in implant prosthodontics with the participants. He elucidated participants on ‘Prosthodontic treatment planning for dental implant’, ‘Occlusion for implant-supported/retained prosthesis’, and ‘Material and Shade Selection for Implant Prosthesis’. Whereas Dr Myra gave an overview and revision of ‘Implant Prosthetic Components and Impression techniques’.

Furthermore, hand-on workshops occurred on ‘Occlusion hands-on for implant loading’ and ‘Prosthetic component of different implant systems’ to give participants the practical experience of the lectures attended beforehand.

The session ended with a discussion and addressing questions.
