Karachi: The Department of Community Dentistry, Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine (AIDM) recently organised an oral health awareness program.
The program was conducted for the students of Pakistan Steel Cadet Collage and Roshni School for special children, under Dr Naseer Ahmed, Head of Department of Community Dentistry, AIDM, Dr Thelma Bashir, Senior Lecturer, AIDM and Dr Shazel William, Lecturer, AIDM.
A group of students of 2nd year BDS gave a presentation to the students to promote oral health and spread awareness regarding related oral health diseases. The motto of the program was 'Oral health is overall Health.' The dental students demonstrated correct brushing techniques and briefed the audience regarding the significance of maintaining oral hygiene, and then conducted free dental checkups of cadet students.
As part of the same campaign, another group of 2nd year BDS students visited Agosh Special Children School/College under Dr Naseer, Dr Thelma Bashir, and Dr Shazel William. The purpose of this visit was to spread awareness regarding oral hygiene among Special children. The students conducted a brief oral examination of the special children under the supervision of the faculty. The prime motive behind the campaign was to acclimate the students with clinical protocols, including diagnosis and rehearing correspondence skills.
The senior faculty of AIDM also had a career counselling session for Madar e Millat Degree College students.
