LAHORE: The Institute of Advanced Dental Sciences and Research (IADSR) recently hosted a one-day workshop on pediatric dentistry, a key component of its 16th Professional Diploma in Advanced General Dentistry (PDAGD) program.
Dr. Arham Nawaz Chohan, Professor of Pediatric Dentistry at CMH Lahore, conducted the workshop, exploring the intricacies of examination and treatment planning for pediatric dental patients.
He highlighted the importance of a well-structured plan and the risks associated with inadequate preparation.
Dr. Chohan discussed key principles of treatment planning, including the appropriate use of antibiotics and behavioral management techniques for children.
The participants also engaged in practical exercises, performing posterior stainless steel crowns and anterior strip crowns on typodonts under Dr. Chohan’s supervision.
He provided solutions to challenges encountered during these procedures and offered guidance on pulp therapy for primary teeth, from clinical diagnosis to treatment. Trauma management for both primary and permanent teeth was also covered.
In an interactive session, Dr. Chohan discussed iatrogenic cases in pediatric dentistry and the role of radiography. He addressed topics such as apexogenesis, apexification, space management, complications of pulpotomy in primary molars, reattachment of fractured tooth fragments, MTA pulpotomy, and local anesthesia in children.
The workshop successfully met its learning objectives, equipping participants with valuable knowledge and practical skills in pediatric dentistry.
