UNITED KINGDOM: The President of the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health, Camilla Kingdom, while speaking to The BMJ, commented on the abysmal state of pediatric dental health in England and the widening health inequalities amongst children.
‘There are lots of examples. One that we often forget about is oral health and the state of children’s teeth, which is actually a national disgrace,’ she said.
She also added that when parents are struggling to feed their families, toothbrushes and toothpaste can become a ‘luxury item’. The cost of living crisis in England is severely impacting children's health. Due to this, toothache has become one major reason for the rising number of hospital admissions among five to nine-year-olds in England
