KARACHI: The Pakistan Dental Association (PDA) has announced that the election for its central council and branch organizations will be held in October this year as per the association’s recently adopted constitution, despite the contrary advice from senior members.
The decision was announced at a meeting held at the residence of PDA President Dr. Mahmood Shah, and endorsed by all the central council members.
However, the senior PDA members, who were invited to the meeting as observers, urged the body to follow the 2015 constitution of the association.
Dr Anwar Saeed was conspicuous by his absence from the meeting which was attended online by Dr Arham and Dr Inayat.
The meeting appointed Dr. Nabeel Baig as the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) for the PDA elections. Only registered members of the association will be eligible to contest and cast votes in the upcoming elections.
Members can visit the PDA website to know further details.
Formed in 1959 and registered as the National Dental Association in 1960, the PDA represents over 40,000 dentists across Pakistan. The association’s structure comprises a central council, with its branches in various cities.
The PDA has long been an active member of both the World Dental Federation (FDI) and the Asia Pacific Dental Federation (APDF).
