Karachi: Pakistan has been awarded Asia Pacific Dental Congress (APDC) 2022 by twenty-seven countries, comprising members of the Asia Pacific Dental Federation (APDF). The event is awarded to Pakistan Dental Association (PDA) through the untiring efforts of PDA President Dr Mahmood Shah, who is also nominated as President-Elect of APDF.
The five-day-long mega event of the Asia Pacific Dental Congress (APDC) has been awarded to Pakistan after seventeen long years.
The last APDC was held in Pakistan in 2006 at Expo Center Karachi, and to date, is the largest dental event in Pakistan. Dr Arif Alvi (now Honorable President of Pakistan) was chairman, and Dr Mahmood Shah was Patron of APDF, 2006.
APDC 2022 would be held under the able leadership of Dr Mahmood Shah, President-Elect APDF.
On behalf of the PDA Council, PDA President Dr Mahmood Shah has appealed to the President of Pakistan, Dr Arif Alvi, to declare APDC 2022 as a National Event given its importance as the largest Dental Event in Asia-Pacific Region. The event will bring goodwill and boost the image of Pakistan since twenty-seven Asia-Pacific Countries will be represented in APDC 2022.
Dr Mahmood Shah has emphasized that in all countries, Government Patronage is a common denominator in organizing such Mega Events, which will help promote Dentistry in Pakistan and augment the tourism industry, Dental Trade, and Manufacturing industry and Dental Education sector in Pakistan.
APDC 2022 is expected to be a hybrid Conference given the prevailing Covid pandemic.
