KARACHI: The Sindh Healthcare Commission’s (SHCC) Directorate of Clinical Governance & Training recently held a meeting with the Medical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases Society of Pakistan (MMIDSP) to discuss conducting online workshops for healthcare establishments (HCEs) and healthcare providers (HCPs) to train them regarding infection prevention and control for COVID-19.
The meeting decided that the SHCC would conduct a clinical audit of hospitals and confirm that HCEs are following proper isolation protocols. The SHCC team would also check the availability and the quality of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as per international standards. A one-hour short training session would also be conducted for HCEs as per hospital requirements if it were deemed necessary.
The Directorate of Anti-Quackery has conducted an operation in Sindh against unauthorized labs/diagnostic centers for conducting the COVID-19 test. Fifty-two labs/diagnostic centers were inspected out of which 19 warnings notices were issued, and three were sealed on the spot.
The Directorate in its operations against quacks has sealed 3502 HCEs so far, whereas warnings have been issued to 1132 HCEs for non-compliance.
The Directorate of Complaints has received 132 complaints to date, out of which 87 complaints have been disposed of, 39 complaints are under process, while seven are sub-judice.
The Directorate of Licensing & Accreditation received 21 new applications for registration. The total number of applications for registration received to date is 10,739.
Registration certificates have been issued to 18 HCEs bringing the total number of registration certificates issued to HCEs to 9509.
