NAUKOT: In a commendable community outreach initiative, Muhammad Medical College Hospital (MMCH) and Muhammad Dental College (MDC), Mirpurkhas, held a one-day free medical and dental camp at the Government Boys’ Secondary School in Naukot, Sindh. This region, known for its underprivileged population, benefitted greatly from the healthcare services provided.
Led by Dr. Khadim Lakhair, Medical Superintendent of MMCH, the camp reflected the vision of Prof. Dr. Syed Razi Muhammad, who emphasizes the importance of connecting with underserved communities and improving their quality of life through healthcare and education.
Comprehensive Medical and Dental Services Offered
The camp brought together a team of experienced consultants, including general physicians, gynecologists, ENT specialists, dentists, and pediatricians. These professionals offered free consultations, diagnoses, and medications to hundreds of residents, addressing a wide range of health concerns.
The dental camp, supported by a fully equipped mobile unit, provided screenings, preventive guidance, and treatment for oral health issues. To promote better oral hygiene, free toothpaste was distributed among the attendees.
Overcoming challenges to serve the community
Despite logistical challenges such as limited space and communication barriers, the camp successfully reached a significant portion of the local population. This effort highlights the crucial role of health promotion and disease prevention in improving the overall well-being of underserved communities.
A commitment to social responsibility
This initiative reinforces the commitment of Muhammad Medical and Dental Colleges to social responsibility. It exemplifies how accessible healthcare can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need. Prof. Dr. Razi Muhammad's vision of giving back to society underscores the significance of community service in fostering a healthier and more equitable society.
The path forward
The overwhelming positive response from the Naukot community underscores the pressing need for continued healthcare outreach programs in underserved areas of Sindh. Such initiatives not only address immediate medical concerns but also serve as a reminder of the transformative power of compassion and service.
