LAHORE: Akhtar Saeed Dental College (ASDC) recently organised an informative seminar and hands-on workshop on “Basic Life Support” for house officers and third and final years BDS students. The event, held on the college campus, was conducted by Dr Shoaib, an anaesthesiologist at Akhtar Saeed Trust Hospital, alongside Dr Waqar Ali and Dr Sohail Yasin from the Department of Oral Surgery.
Dr Shoaib highlighted basic life support’s crucial role in emergency situations, explaining essential first aid tools and discussed scenarios where Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is necessary.
After the seminar, house officers engaged in hands-on training, practising CPR techniques using mannequin models. Participants worked in pairs to deliver rescue breaths and chest compressions in sequence. Dr Shoaib pointed out common errors and guided students throughout the practice.
The event concluded with a Q&A session, allowing participants to clarify their doubts. Certificates were later distributed among the participants in recognition of their efforts.
