KARACHI: A Saudi Arabia-based team of Pakistani researchers led by Prof Akhter Hussain Bokhari, a distinguished dentist and head of the Department of Preventive Dental Sciences at King Faisal University in Al Hufūf, has played a pivotal role in inventing a patented Gingival Crevicular Fluid Absorbing Brush that will help enhance dental care and patient outcomes.
The other team members include Dr. Zohaib Khurshid, Dr. Mohammad Sohail Zafar, Syed Faraz Moin, and Shariq Najeeb, all based in Al-Ahsa, Saudi Arabia.
Prof Bokhari, who holds a PhD in addition to his dental degrees, is renowned for his contribution to dental research and education. As Department of Research & Postgraduate Programs chairman, he has tirelessly promoted research activities and developed postgraduate programs linked to international dental institutions.
The new brush developed by the Pakistani researchers, designed to absorb gingival crevicular fluid, could revolutionize the diagnosis and management of oral diseases by improving the accuracy of assessments.
Prof Bokhari' is also actively involved in studying periodontal medicine, the epidemiology of oral diseases, and public health implications, all while working to enhance the competency of dental graduates.
