Karachi: Board of studies meeting held at Sindh Institute of Oral Health Sciences, JSMU. The meeting was chaired by Prof. S.M. Kefi Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Dentistry (SIOHS). The meeting attended by Prof. Yawar Abidi, Prof. Saqib Rasheed, Prof. Mohsin Girach, Prof.H.R.Sukhia, Prof.Tasleem Hosein, Prof.Faisal Ghani JSMU, Prof.Zubair Abbasi, Prof.Amjad Ali Syed, Prof.Sakrani, Dr.S.Moyn Aly, Dr.Marium Azfar and Dr.Suriya Sarwat.
The chairman gave a brief account of the universities’ core activities. Other members were informed regarding the discussions with VC & Registrar to initiate the Dental Surgery Assistant Course (1 year duration) & Dental Hygienist Program (2 years duration) at SIOHS.
He also pointed out an agenda for 3rd & 4th year’s Professional Exams, that are to be held in JSMU. Discussions with the respective subject specialists, in order to finalize the pattern of OSCE examination.
Prof. Tasleem suggested that conceptual assessment should be performed on mannequins rather than patients.
Prof. Amjad Ali suggested timely submissions of internal evaluations, along with enrolment numbers to avoid any sort of delay in results.
At the end, Dean expressed his gratitude towards all the members and appreciated their valuable input.
