Abbottabad Int’l Dental College hosts free dental camp in Mirpur

ABBOTTABAD: The Community Dentistry Department of Abbottabad International Dental College (AIDC) organized a free dental camp at the Basic Health Unit (BHU) in Mirpur, Abbottabad. This community initiative aimed to deliver quality dental care, promote oral hygiene awareness, and gather insights into the oral health challenges faced by the local population.
Led by Dr. Qurat-Ul-Ain, Associate Professor and Head of the Community Dentistry Department, the camp treated 40 patients, offering services such as scaling, polishing, and Atraumatic Restorative Treatment (ART) fillings. The patients also received demonstrations on proper toothbrushing techniques to improve their oral hygiene habits.
A dedicated team, including demonstrators Dr. Iqra Sattar and Dr. Muzna, supported by eight skilled dentists, ensured the camp’s success. Portable dental equipment, including scaling machines and ART kits, enabled professional care in the resource-constrained setting.
The event also emphasized oral health education, focusing on the prevention of gum diseases and cavities. Participants completed surveys to evaluate their oral health awareness and identify barriers to dental care access, revealing the need for ongoing outreach and preventive measures.
This initiative reflects AIDC's commitment to serving the community and bridging gaps in oral healthcare. The camp not only addressed immediate dental needs but also laid the groundwork for future oral health interventions in underserved areas.
