DUOHS Orientation session of 6th batch of Dow College of Pharmacy

KARACHI- Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) the other day started the 6th batch of Pharm D Session 2013 at Dow College of Pharmacy (DCOP). An Orientation Session marks the beginning of the ceremony. Mr. Javed Akhai, Chairman, PPMA was the chief guest whereas Dr Kaiser Waheed, Former Chairman, PPMA was the guest of honor. The session was attended by the senior faculty members including Prof Dr M. Umar Farooq, DUHS' Pro-Vice Chancellor; Prof Dr Sumbul Shamim, Principal, Dow College of Pharmacy; Dr Haroon Qasim, CEO, PharmEvo, Mr Muneer Anwar, and CEO Martin Dow.
PPMA Chairman Javed Akhai, speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, expressed his satisfaction with the teaching and learning methods at Dow University, and appreciated the efforts of DUHS' Vice Chancellor Prof. Masood Hameed Khan, and his dedicated team, for his dynamic leadership qualities in the establishment and development of the University.
Chairman Akhai announced plans to sponsor one gold medal for the top position holder of Dow College of Pharmacy every year, announcing also plans to sponsor scholarships for needy students, assuring as well the full support for the future development of College of Pharmacy building.
DUHS' Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof M. Umer Farooq, in his address, while welcoming the students of the new batch, said that a responsibility to serve human beings had been bestowed upon the students. According to him, DUHS has provided all possible facilities for creating pharmacists at par with the international standards. He also advised the students to respect their parents and teachers alike.
Prof Dr Sumbul Shamim, Principal, Dow College of Pharmacy, in her welcome address gave a brief overview of Dow College of Pharmacy. She said that DCOP had been established to provide highly competitive pharmaceutical education to its students.
Later on, Dr. Qaiser Waheed, former chairman of PPA offered vote of thanks, and lastly, Prof. Dr Umer Farooq and Dr Sumbul Shamim presented DUHS memento to the chief guest and guest of honor.
