ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) has issued a public notice emphasizing that all medical and dental postgraduate qualifications must be recognized under Section 25 of the PMDC Act 2022. This directive aims to regulate medical education standards and protect students from enrolling in unrecognized programs.
The notice directs all medical and dental institutions to ensure their postgraduate qualifications comply with PMDC’s official recognition list. Any unrecognized postgraduate degree will not be accredited, and the students’ qualifications will remain unregistered.
Students Must Verify Recognized Institutions
Aspiring postgraduate medical and dental students have been advised to verify the recognition status of both the institution and qualification before applying. The PMDC maintains an official list of recognized institutions and accredited qualifications, which should be consulted before enrollment.
Strict Compliance for Institutions
Educational institutions have been instructed to only advertise and admit students into programs that are duly accredited by PMDC. Institutions offering unrecognized courses will face penalties under the law, and students enrolling in such programs will have their degrees invalidated.
This latest directive is a critical step in ensuring that Pakistan’s healthcare professionals receive internationally recognized and credible postgraduate training, protecting both students and the healthcare sector’s integrity.
