KARACHI- A delegation comprising faculty members of Bahria University Medical & Dental College (BUMDC) visited the United Kingdom from May 31 to June 7.
The delegation was led by Rear Admiral Najm-us-Saqib Khan and its members included Brig (retd) Shaheen Moin, dean of health sciences; Captain (retd) Dr Ghulam Mujtaba Abbasi, Dr Kulsoom Fatima Rizvi, vice principal Dental Section and head of Community Dentistry department and Dr Saman Hakeem, head of Prosthodontics department.
During the trip, they visited some of the top-ranking universities of the UK, including Queen Mary University, University of Bedfordshire, Newcastle University and Cardiff University.
The purpose of the visit was to gain information on the latest development in innovative teaching and learning strategies used by the UK’s universities and to observe the administrative and academic infrastructure i.e. hospital funding, stimulator and research labs, tutorial rooms and clinics.
It was also aimed at understanding the general philosophy of teacher-education programmes - the core and elective curricula and students’ support for academic excellence.
Bahria University will continue to strive for upgrading its teaching practices and staff development as per international standards and to achieve excellence in educating its students.-PR
