KARACHI - Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB) has claimed that water being supplied to the city was being chlorinated as per international standards.
A spokesman for the KWSB said that water samples being collected by the utility’s field officers from different localities were being sent regularly to its laboratory to analyze whether water is properly chlorinated or not.
He said that the KWSB’s chief engineer (Electrical & Mechanical), who is also focal person for Naegleria fowleri monitoring committee, has been personally monitoring the chlorination process.
He said that whenever a complaint concerning low percentage of chlorine was received from any tail-end area, the KWSB officials immediately resolved the issue.
“KWSB is extending full cooperation to Sindh health department for the eradication of Naegleria fowleri from the city,” the spokesman said, adding that sodium hypochlorite was being added to level chlorine quantity through different water plants and such measures were yielding positive results.
