By Our Reporter KARACHI - Patients’ Welfare Association’s (PWA) annual fund-raising event “The Bake Sale” held here at Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK). People belonging to different walks of life, including doctors, celebrities and students belonging to various educational institutions attended the event organized for a noble cause. Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (KCCI) president Younus Mohammad Bashir was chief guest at the event which is organized annually to raise funds for providing free of cost medical services to poor patients of the CHK, in particular and other hospitals of the metropolis, in general. PWA is being run by students of Dow Medical College (DMC) for the last 37 years. It is the largest non-governmental and non-political organization of the country. The services offered by the PWA include medicines on daily basis, provision of screened blood and base line diagnostic investigations free of charges. The association also caters to the needs of registered Thalassemia and TB patients and those suffering from long-term illnesses such as hypertension, asthma, diabetes, etc.
