KARACHI- Federal government has taken over administrative control of three major hospitals of Sindh province, which include Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), and National Institute of Child Health (NICH).
The notification issued by Federal Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Control said: “In pursuance of Supreme Court of Pakistan's judgment dated 17/01/2019 and with the approval of federal cabinet dated 02/04/2019, three major Karachi hospitals are restored to federal government and placed under the administrative control of ministry of National Health Services, Islamabad along with its components, assets, and staff etc as indicated in the apex court decision.
Control of the three aforementioned hospitals/medical institutes have been handed over to the federal government again. Earlier, these three health facilities had been given to Sindh government after the 18th Amendment.
Commenting on the news of administration shift, the Chief Operating Officer NICVD, Azra Maqsood said that no official notification from the federal government had been received by NICVD management in this regard yet, however, a notification of Federal Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Control is available on some social media group.
President, Pakistan Paramedical Staff Association, JPMC Unit, Haq Nawaz Sial and other office-bearers welcomed the federal government for taking over administrative control of the three major hospitals of Karachi again.
They thanked the apex court and the federal government for restoring JPMC, NICH and NICVD to the federal government status.
