DN Report Karachi: The Health Department, Government of Sindh has finalized all arrangements to open two model dental clinics for public in Malir and Gharibabad districts of Karachi to provide specialized dental treatment facilities to citizens at local level. An official of Director Health Karachi Office that modal dental clinics project had been initiated by health department Karachi and decided to establish model dental clinics in Korangi, Gharibabad, Malir, Lyari and Saddar, respectively in phases. He said all arrangements have been made to open model dental clinics in Gharibabad and Malir respectively in first phase. He said dental chairs had been fixed in these two clinics and these clinics will be made operational very soon. He said step has been taken by health department to provide specialized treatment facilities to patients at local level and model clinics will be established each districts of Karachi. The plan also had been made to upgrade these clinics into Oral Hygienic Clinics in future where maxillofacial surgery facilities to be provided to patients. He said private dental clinics established in various parts of city have become major sources of hepatitis and other diseases prevalence as they used unhygienic dental instruments. He said in these circumstances, there is an urgent need of establishment of these model clinics in Karachi to provide dental and other specialized treatment facilities to citizens. The official said dentistry is a complete subject and treatment of different dental diseases is very costly, therefore step had been to provide specialized dental treatment facilities to citizens at government level. Director Health Karachi Dr Zafar Ejaz was not available for comment.
